Three Shows, Three Settings, One Memorable Tasmanian Weekend

Tasmania has a way of pulling music into the landscape. The light shifts, the air cools, and suddenly every note feels like it belongs exactly where it’s being played. For The Times, last weekend was a beautiful reminder of how adaptable live music can be — and how powerful it is when it meets the moment.

Across three very different performances, in three very different environments, we were lucky enough to connect with audiences in ways that were unique, personal, and unforgettable.

Friday Evening | Eastford Creek Vineyard

Friday night at Eastford Creek Vineyard unfolded slowly and effortlessly. As dusk settled over the vines and the first stars appeared, the audience leaned into the relaxed, intimate mood that only a vineyard can create.

This was a listening space — one where harmonies could float, dynamics could breathe, and songs could take their time. Conversations softened, glasses clinked a little quieter, and the connection between band and audience felt immediate. It was the kind of setting that rewards nuance, and the response reminded us how deeply people engage when music becomes part of the atmosphere rather than competing with it.

Saturday Night | A 20th Wedding Anniversary in the Bush

Saturday night shifted gears entirely. Set on an outdoor stage at a bush block belonging to close friends of the band, this performance celebrated a combined 50th Birthday and 20th wedding anniversary — and it carried all the warmth, history, and joy you’d expect from a night surrounded by people who genuinely love one another.

Under the open sky, with the sounds of the bush nearby and fairy lights glowing as darkness fell, the music took on a different role. This was a night for shared memories and letting the set evolve organically. Songs sparked laughter, singalongs, and dancing. Others invited quiet reflection and a moment to look around at just how special the setting really was.

Playing outdoors, for friends, on land that holds meaning, created a sense of freedom and trust that can’t be manufactured. It was celebratory, emotional, and deeply grounded — a reminder that some of the best stages aren’t traditional ones at all.

Sunday Afternoon | Little Sisters General Store

By Sunday afternoon, the mood lifted into something lighter and more communal. Little Sisters General Store brought a steady flow of locals and visitors, drinks in hand, drifting in and out as the afternoon unfolded.

This performance was all about accessibility and feel. Music that welcomed people rather than demanded attention. A soundtrack to conversations, kids wandering past, and spontaneous moments where someone would stop, smile, and dance.

Gradually, the garden leaned in. Feet tapped. Heads nodded. Familiar faces returned for “one more song.” It was a reminder of how music can quietly shape a space, turning an everyday moment into something shared and memorable.

One Weekend, Many Ways to Connect

Three performances. Three completely different settings — vineyard, bush stage, and garden. One constant: connection.

Tasmania offered us the chance to stretch, adapt, and respond to each audience as they were, proving once again that live music isn’t about a single format. It’s about listening, presence, and letting the environment guide the experience.

We’re incredibly grateful for the warmth, generosity, and open ears we encountered across the weekend — and for the island that made each performance feel so distinctly its own.

Until next time, Tasmania. 🌿🎶

5 in a Row!

The Times Duo are overjoyed to announce their win for Best Live Entertainment at the 2025 Gippsland and Phillip Island Wedding Awards — for the fifth consecutive year! Their passion for creating unforgettable wedding experiences continues to shine through every performance, and this recognition is a true honour. Mark and Dave extend their heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful couples who have trusted them to bring music and magic to their special day, as well as the incredible network of fellow vendors who make every event a seamless celebration. Here’s to another year of love, laughter, and live music!

Season 2021-2022

It’s been a splendid, hectic, and rewarding season for The Times! We saw wild bridal party entrances and had epic dances at The Shearing Shed, and enjoyed the picturesque backdrops at Saltwater, Island Bay Ranch, Clifftop Boutique, Gurdies Winery, The Little Vineyard, Gurneys Cidery, Churchill Island, Quat Quatta, Trenavin Chapel and incredible private properties in Gippsland and we revelled in the warm glow of the atrium at Phillip Island Winery.

We loved adding the soundtrack to laidback lunches in the rainforest at Wild Food Farm and cruisey outdoor sessions on the Bridge Lawn, Middle Hotel and Invy Espy and rocking out at the venue launch parties for Dimples and The Wooli Tavern. We caroused NYE at Phillip Island Golf Club and owned dressing up for Colechella and getting tattooed for a Viking party!

These are moments we will never forget.

Thank you for being there with us!

Summer of Love

The Times wound back to the clock to 1969, the summer of love, celebrating Andi’s 50th Birthday at the very groovy Clifftop Resort at Smith’s Beach. It was night of flower power, bell bottoms, lavender tinted glasses, psychedelic colours and beautiful music.

Lydia & Raymond @ The Shearing Shed

We, and our guests, just loved you! Someone requested a song, which you played - it was their favourite song and they had never heard it played live before. That was super meaningful to them. You guys really built up a huge positive energy in the room, and for everyone dancing. Thanks so much for being so awesome, and for making our wedding so special!

Oggy and Boot's 60th

Oggy and Boots, there are no greater legends on Phillip Island. What a privilege to perform for their 60th birthday celebration at the Board Riders Club, April 6th, 2019. Our first gig we ever played on the Island together was actually on the Board Riders stage with ‘The Push Carts’ some years ago. Some wonderful memories and rich history were formed back then and even more the night of Oggy and Boot’s 60th. In the words of the great men, “We couldn’t have scripted it better ourselves”.

Silver Water Resort, IPA Conference

“David and Mark, The Times Duo are a class act. Talented musicians who know how to read the room and play accordingly. Great song selections too!

Our delegates enjoyed the background music while they were eating and then danced the night away once the volume was turned up later in the evening.

David was great to deal with from the initial enquiry through to the event date. I would highly recommend these guys for any event.”

Meg and LJ's Wedding

Weddings are awesome! And none was more awesome than the wedding of Meg and LJ at Island Bay Ranch, Phillip Island. The two stunning brides secretly got married the day before on the beach. The next day they surprised their guests announcing the ceremony had already taken place and they launched straight into the reception festivities. The dance floor filled up and the brides boogied all the way into happily ever after x

San Remo Hotel - Channel Challenge

What an amazing night! Despite the channel challenge being postponed til next month it didn't stop everyone from competing for coolest moves on the dance floor. Local legend Bobby Mathews even joined us on stage before launching into some crowd surfing. This Super Bike weekend we're back at the San Remo Hotel teaming up with Dan Lunn as support to deliver some more high energy good time live music.
